In our October xChange Paul Skinner, founder of MarketingKind, will interview Eric Beinhocker and Nick Hanauer to explore their forthcoming book Market Humanism and their campaign for a new economic paradigm fit for the 21st century.

Eric Beinhocker is a professor at the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government, and the founder and executive director of the Institute for New Economic Thinking at the Oxford Martin School (INET Oxford), a research center dedicated to applying innovative economics to major societal challenges. He is also the Chairman of the Science Board and an External Professor at the Santa Fe Institute. Prior to his academic career, Eric spent three decades as a technology entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and consultant to Fortune 500 companies. His writing has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Guardian, The Times, Bloomberg, Democracy, and The Atlantic. He is the author of The Origin of Wealth: The Radical Remaking of Economics and What it Means for Business and Society.

Nick Hanauer is a Seattle-based entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and civic leader dedicated to building a more inclusive and sustainable economy. He is the founder of Civic Ventures, a public policy incubator, and co-host of the podcast Pitchfork Economics. Over his career, Hanauer has founded or financed more than thirty companies across technology, manufacturing, and retail, creating tens of billions of dollars in market value. A leading voice for “middle-out” economics, his commentary has appeared in The Atlantic, Politico, Bloomberg, and The New York Times. He is the author of The Gardens of Democracy and The True Patriot, and a frequent advocate for policies that put working people at the center of economic growth.
