xChange with Nicki Whiteman, CEO of Bite Back

In our November xChange Caroline Bates, founding partner of Citizen Good, will host and interview Nicki Whiteman, Interim CEO of Bite Back, to explore how the UK food industry is harming young people and how we can join Bite Back in fighting for our future.

Bite Back was founded in October 2019 by Jamie Oliver and philanthropist Nicolai Tangen to create a youth-led movement challenging the food system to protect children's health. The movement began with 12 youth activists who launched the film Triple Dipped Chicken, raising awareness about the tactics used to market junk food to children. Since then, Bite Back has grown into a significant youth-led organization campaigning for healthier food, healthy schools, and a reduction in harmful junk food marketing.

Learn more here about their youth-led creative campaigns such as giving young people a Commercial Break and Fuel Us, Don’t Fool Us.

After a 15-year career as a BBC presenter, Nicki went on to hold various senior leadership roles – including Chief Communications Officer at education charity Achievement for All. She leads all Bite Back's external relationships. "Supermarkets have always been a battleground where consumers are manipulated – and in the worst instances, deliberately exploited – by clever, enticing and colourful packaging and promotions. How different would it be if healthy options were the stars of the supermarket shelves?"
