You're MarketingKind with Charlotte Hollins on community ownership

In our January 16th You’re MarketingKind Charlotte Hollins, manager of Fordhall Farm, will share her story and lead a group discussion on community ownership.

Charlotte manages England's first community owned farm. Fordhall Organic Farm is owned by over 8,000 community members from across the world.

She and her brother, Ben, have written a book called The Fight for Fordhall Farm about their lives at Fordhall Farm and the campaign to save it from development in 2006, resulting in raising over £800,000 in less than six months through community shares and donations.

Charlotte manages the community society which owns the farm, the Fordhall Community Land Initiative. This includes an organic café and functions rooms in an environmentally friendly building, educational visits, events, courses, glamping, a care farm, youth project and volunteering opportunities. And her brother, Ben, is the tenant farmer that leases the land and leads their farming activities.

Based on her experiences at Fordhall Charlotte has become a pioneer advising others on how to make community ownership work for a regenerative economy.
